Leaf Mulching / Shredding
We offer Leaf Mulching/Shredding as a service in the fall. Mulching leaves back into the lawn adds nutrients and organic matter back to the soil. Tree leaves are 35% Potash, a major nutrient needed by turf grass for healthy tissue development. The organic matter from leaves aids in holding moisture in the soil. Also, lawns that have had leaves mulched into the turf tend to green up faster in the spring.
We have mulched leaves up to 12 inches deep on the lawn back into the turf with no ill effects to the turf stands. Numerous studies have been done on the effects of leaf mulching on turf grasses by Land Grant Universities all over the United States.
